Description

Brazilian Raintree Bonsai - Medium (Pithecellobium Tortum)

The Medium Brazilian Raintree Bonsai is native to Brazil, South America. This tree is unique with twisted trunk, exfoliating bark and compounded leaves. If exposed to adequate lighting, this tree can grow indoors. It needs balanced fertilizer round the year. The plant can be repotted during warm summer days. It has white puffy flowers which turn yellow as they mature. The leaves close themselves at night and also when rain touches them. To keep the plant healthy and growing, use well draining soil and keep it evenly moist. It is one of the most sort after rainforest trees. The plant needs protection when temperatures dip below 45 degrees F.

Features:

  • Age: 9 Years Old
  • Height: 13 Inches tall
  • Biological name: Pithecellobium tortum

Please note: During winters shipping of tender trees may have to be temporally delayed due to cold temperatures either in originating or its final destination. Reviews

It was a gift from a friend and it looked gorgeous when it arrived. But in three weeks time the leaves start to fall and we feared that the bonsai might die. After researching online, we installed a water globe to help drip extra water as needed and placed it in a spot indoors with lots of natural daylight and it survived. Its amazing to watch the leaves close at night and open up during day. Wonders of nature!
It is not the first time that I have purchased a bonsai from this company. I received this tree in about 3-4 days from placing the order. I received my tree yesterday and I must that it was well packed. I was delighted to see it that it was in good condition and about 12-13 inches tall and an inch thick trunk. It came with complete instructions on how to care for it. The bonsai has lots of leaves but are folded may be beacuse of the travel trauma. I will help it overcome the rough travel days by taking good care.
Being bonsai beginner, I was not sure if I will be able to care for my plant and was scared that it might die. But my experience has been good so far. The plant is still around and doing good with out daily watering and direct sunlight :)
