Baby Jade Bonsai plant is an evergreen small shrub with emerald green luscious leaves and reddish brown fleshy stem, stands upright in a flamboyant posture. Jade plants belong to Africa and being African elephant’s favorite food is popular by the terms ‘elephant bush’ or ‘elephant plant’.

Portulacaria afra is a wonderful indoor bonsai, and ideal for bonsai beginners as it does not need extra attention and care. The succulent leaves and thick trunk of the plant stores water, enabling it to go without water for days. Jade plants can sustain outdoor temperatures up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but need to be brought indoors for protection from winter frost. The plant enjoys plenty of natural daylight and warm temperature.

It is easy to propagate jade bonsai from cuttings. It is advisable to let the cuttings dry and then plant them in damp soil during spring or summer. Place the pot in a place with enough natural light and moderate temperature for it to root. Dwarf Jade bonsai plant needs frequent pruning and responds well to it.
